Sean Connery, playing Zed in John Boorman's Zardoz, sports a red diaper, tall boots, a ponytail, and a handlebar mustache. At this point, the jokes write themselves, don't they? The costumes in the film were designed by the director's wife, so perhaps no one was willing to tell him how silly they were.

ZARDOZ!! One of the strangest films ever made...and yet strangely compelling! Not compelling in the slightest was Zed's outfit. Thigh-high boots NEVER look good on a guy. And seeing Sean Connery in red underwear aged me 10 years.

Connery wore tall boots in Highlander, as well. To the knees, anyway. I'll take his Ramirez costume over this one any day. As a matter of fact, I want to wear it to work tomorrow.
